Zante - The capital of the island and one of the most beautiful towns in the Ionian islands, with its western type architecture, the large public library and the museum of Dionysios Solomos . It is situated on the east side of the island and it is your entry point to the island if you are visiting by boat. From this port you can take a boat for a daily cruise around the island. While you are in town enjoy the walks in the wide open squares and visit the Byzantine Museum, the church of Agios Nikolaos tou Molou and the church of Agios Dionysios , the patron saint of the island, where you will have the chance to see his relics.
Laganas - On the South of the island it is the most touristy place of Zakynthos. It is also the main hotspot for nightlife on the island frequented both by Greeks and foreigners. It has lots of bars and clubs playing all types of music from greek to dance. The beach is very long, shallow and warm, ideal for families. Laganas is the most preferred beach for the sea turtles Caretta-Caretta but the tourist explosion on this part of the island has driven the sea turtles on far end of the beach.
Gerakas - It is probably the most beautiful beach on the south end of the island, easily accessible by car and frequented also by the sea turtles. The rocky formations on the side of the beach are very interesting.
Vassilikos - It is close to the SE end of the island and you will find it on the way to Gerakas beach. It is situated in a very green area of the island, sparsely inhabited and with a series of very beautiful beaches. Banana beach, Porto Zoro , Porto Roma and Agios Nikolaos are the most beautiful with warm and clear waters. Mavrantzi beach used to be one of the nicest beaches in the area but there are so many people going there, that there is no space for others.
Argasi - The main hotspot for nightlife close to the town of Zakynthos. It has a variety of bars and clubs playing all types of music. If you are staying in town you will definitely visit it. The beach at Argasi is nothing special but it is a very popular holiday resort.
Volimes - Are on the NW side of the island and it is the starting point for those willing to explore the north side of the island with the numerous caves by the sea, the 'shipwreck' and the 'blue cave'.
Alykes - Is a touristy place on the NE side of the island offering an very nice sandy beach and water sports, preferred by families.
Keri - Is a small village on the SW side that has become very popular due to the sea caves created by the forces of nature. The village resembles a lot old Italian villages and that is why a lot of Italians visit it each year.
